Randy has played violin with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The Atlanta Opera, and Atlanta Ballet as well as multiple ensembles in the Southeast. He was also Associate Concertmaster of Omaha Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster of Opera Omaha.
A California native, Randy is extremely happy to be back in the Bay Area where he’s recently played with Symphony Silicon Valley, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, Oakland East Bay Symphony, and Monterey Symphony, to name a few. He’s excited to now be performing with the Nova Solisti Chamber Orchestra alongside some of the most artistic musicians in the Bay Area.
Randy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, followed by a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music in New York. While earning his master’s, he studied violin privately with Erick Friedman (Heifetz’s protégé) and he studied chamber music with Mischa Schneider (Budapest String Quartet), Lillian Fuchs, Ida Kavafian, and Artur Balsam.
Born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, Anna Sombor fell in love with classical music as a child. She started to play the piano at age 10 and got her Master of Arts in Music Education and Choir Conducting from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
After moving to California in September of 1989, Anna earned her Master of Business Administration at Santa Clara University and began working in Silicon Valley. Her first high-tech job was at a small startup, where she created music curricula for piano-teaching software. After 19 years of working for Adobe managing creative teams in the Global Marketing Organization, Anna retired from the high-tech world in July of 2021, so she could focus on her true passion of playing the violin.
